Veligrad – Historical Festival

A historical festival – re-enactment of an early medieval battle from the Great Moravia period in the Archaeological Open Air Museum in Modrá u Velehradu. You can go back to ancient history and see two hundred warriors in battle, including a unique show of warriors on horseback and an amazing performance of falconers from Slovakia. Visitors can admire the fortress brought to life with costumed animators, learn about old crafts, taste medieval dishes, practice archery, participate in competitions for children and adults, and even in a children’s battle. You will see how life used to be – how women and children spent their day and how men prepared for battle. The festival takes place every year in August.
