The public can engage with old noble residences not only through classic sightseeing tours, but also through re-enactments featuring swordsmen, comedians, even ghosts – and much more. One of the most beautiful castles in the area is Buchlov in the Chřiby Mountains, which was never conquered; here you can spend a night with the Black Lady. From Buchlov, it is only a short drive to Buchlovice, where you can stroll through a beautiful garden and admire the chateau. When in the Zlín Region, you cannot miss the monuments of Kroměříž – the Archbishop’s Castle, the Castle Garden, and the Flower Garden, which are listed as UNESCO world heritage sites. However, sightseers can visit many other castles and chateaux in the region. A beautiful walk will take you to Lukov Castle, which dates back to the 13th century and is located in the south-western part of the Hostýn Hills. Not far from there is the Chateau of Lešná, set in beautiful surroundings of a park that hosts Zlín Zoo; the Chateau is remarkable for its modern amenities. Located not far from Zlín, the Vizovice Castle is also worth a visit. The Chateau of Holešov in the Kroměříž District is surrounded by a beautiful park. A unique example of the way in which castles were modernised and converted into palatial estates is the Chateau of Bystřice pod Hostýnem. You can also visit the castles in Moravian Wallachia; the Museum of Moravian Wallachia has its branches in the chateaux of Vsetín, Valašské Meziříčí, and Lešná u Valašského Meziříčí.
The East Moravia Tourism Portal is an official guide to the attractions of the Zlín Region, which can be found in the sub-regions and districts of Kroměříž, Moravian Wallachia, Moravian Slovakia, Zlín and Luhačovice.
