The town of Bystřice pod Hostýnem is the gateway to the Hostýn Hills, which offer a wide range of hiking and cycling trips.

The town is famous for the production of the world-famous bentwood furniture by Michael Thonet, and for the castle once owned by the Laudon family. There you can see the permanent exhibitions of the Municipal Museum entitled Historical Bentwood Furniture, Ceramics of the 18th and 19th Centuries, and the Napoleonic Soldiers Exhibition.

The dominant feature of the Hostýn Hills is Svatý Hostýn, the highest Marian pilgrimage site, with the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Way of the Cross by Dušan Jurkovič, and the Lookout Tower named after Emperor Francis Joseph I.
